“Without a shadow of a doubt, The Conditioning Centre has changed my life. I am 32 years old and had done no exercise since the age of 18 and followed a pretty poor diet and too much fast food. I joined the Bournemouth Bobcats American Football team in the summer of 2010 and unsurprisingly struggled to keep up with the team in fitness, strength and stamina. In the off-season I did 2 of Russell’s 12 week Strength & Conditioning courses and the difference they made is phenomenal. I get to the end of a game now and I’m energised enough to play another quarter if needed!
I achieved weekly increases in the weight I can lift in most exercises as well as a massive improvement in my core strength (before joining I had never been able to do more than 2 press ups; now I can happily complete sets of 10-20 as required). Having been so unfit initially I was very nervous to be in a group gym environment but Russell’s manner is superb and very encouraging. He is calm, motivational, highly professional and very good at adapting his style to suit each person. I don’t know how he does it but even with a group of 12 Russell manages to make you feel like it’s a personal one-on-one training session.
Russell has managed to change my mindset toward exercise and I quickly started enjoying the sessions, looking forward to them and even missing them when I couldn’t attend!
I would and do recommend Russell and The Conditioning Centre to anyone and everyone. Attending just one session per week gave me more benefit and I saw more difference than going to a regular gym three times per week. I was born with a serious congenital heart defect and I have not had the opportunity / confidence to do an real sport / exercise since leaving school 20 years ago. "'Gymtime' (otherwise known as Strength and Conditioning) was a major part of my Varsity training whilst I studied at Bournemouth. Taking part in it 2 or 3 times a week really kept my mind focused on my sport whilst also giving me a break from my studies and a chance to relieve some stress. Getting in there with the rest of the team was a big team building opportunity bringing all the girls closer together as well as hugely increasing our performance on the Basketball court. My vertical jump alone increased by 15cm over the 40weeks. I felt that the power we all gained through the Basketball specific weights training with Russell improved our strength, focus and determination in games. Also it made a huge difference to how I felt. I felt healthier, more energised, and alot more capable. I would recommend training with Russell to anyone who wishes to improve their talent in their chosen sport or anyone who fancies a challenge."

"As part of my sports scholarship commitments for Cricket at Bournemouth University, I began Russ's meticulously planned Strength & Conditioning Programme with a broader aim of developing my strength to compete as an allrounder.
After learning effective functional, compound and innovative cricket specific exercises, I gained strength in areas that significantly enhanced my athletic ability. This resulted in quicker reactions, faster bowling, greater agility in the field and more boundaries scored as a batsman. The intensity of the training sessions also enabled my body to 'recruit' strength - a vital factor when bowling or batting for long periods. This also mitigated the chance of injury.
However, the most valuable element of the program I learned to appreciate was the role of the mind and the positive mental benefits I acquired; goal setting, focus, discipline, determination and improved concentration transferred to my sport and work. As a squad, the sessions provided a weekly challenge. This instilled strength in character amongst the SportBU cricket squad that was central to enforcing team spirit for the competitive BUCS Cricket season.
